THIS EXCITING NEW RANGE EXPECTED LATE FEBRUARY 2025 - AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER NOW
A beautifully designed floor, Old Oak Seasoned oak flooring takes its design inspiration from the weathered wood floors seen in historic commercial buildings. Floors that have seen years of footfall and all manner of detritus, liquids and temperature extremes, producing a cracked, stained & patinated floor chock full of timeless personality. These aesthetics are carefully produced by artisans using a variety of aging techniques that we have developed in-house, resulting in the unique antiqued old oak floor aesthetic but in a modern engineered board. The third colour in our magnificent Old Wood range, Seasoned, as the names suggests, is a rich, almost golden oak colour – a colour often seen in oak floors that have matured and aged somewhat gracefully!
Old Wood Seasoned is for those projects where an antiqued, old & reclaimed oak floor look is demanded. This weathered engineered oak is a truly exquisite wood floor, with lovely, pale golden-oak colours coupled with an astounding reclaimed allure.
Design tip: If you are considering white walls, certain shades harmonise beautifully with golden oak floors. White paint colours that compliment golden oak floors include Little Greene’s French Grey Pale, Loft White & French Grey - all are fabulous choices and have the right balance of warmth and neutrality, enhancing the natural beauty of the aged oak without overpowering it, bringing a fresh, airy feel to the room that works perfectly with the golden oak flooring.
Old Wood Seasoned oak floor is available in 1.5cm (15mm) thick engineered boards, 220cm in length and 24cm wide (2200mm x 240mm) – a super-rustic, super-wide, reclaimed oak looking floor. This engineered wood flooring has individually distressed, weathered & antiqued face and edges and fits together via tongue & groove. More installation information can be found under the specification tab. this is a 15mm thick engineered oak flooring with a 11mm ply back and 4mm solid oak surface.

Grade | RUSTIC GRADE: Rustic grade wood has the largest range of colour variation, sap content and allows almost a limitless size and number of knots. There will be checks (stable splits) across & between the growth rings, all of which add to its natural charm. Filler will be used and the colour is traditionally dark, carefully selected to compliment the oak rather than to match it or ‘disappear’. Rustic grade oak produces a stunning, traditional vintage looking floor. |
Glue-Down | We recommend fixing engineered oak, where possible, with the Glue-down method. Using a high-quality adhesive will result in the most stable floor installation as the base of each board is bonded directly to the sub-floor. No underlay is needed and no gluing of the tongue and groove is required. We recommend Bona Quantum flexible wood flooring adhesive though many other brands are available – speak with your installer as they will likely have a tried and tested product they can supply. |
Floating | Glue-down method is not appropriate for sub-floors that are damp, are mixed i.e. timber subfloor combined with concrete/screed sub-floor or have specific requirements such as acoustic deadening. With sub-floors of this type the Floating installation method will likely be proposed by your installer. The boards are not fixed to the sub-floor but instead uses the weight of the floor itself to keep them in place, usually with the use of an underlay between the sub-floor and boards. The tongue & groove would normally be glued in a floating installation. NB: Beswick stone do not provide underlay, glue or any other wood installation product. |
Blending | Shade and colour variation should be expected in our real timber engineered oak products. Each board will react differently to the finishing processes used and have unique characteristics such as knots and highlighted grain. Stronger tone & colour variation can occur between batches, so it is recommended you ensure you order enough for your project in one batch. As always when laying real timber flooring a good number of packs should be opened at a time and blended. |
Cleaning | The Bona Premium Spray Mop for Oiled Wood Floor is the easiest and most effective way of cleaning oiled wood floors in the home. Simply spray and wipe the floor clean. It cleans and nourishes your oiled wood floor while providing extra protection. |
